  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Make sure to select a halal option.
  • 1 cup salsa Your choice of mild, medium, or hot.
  • 8 small tortillas

  • chopped cilantro
  • lime wedges

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Place the boneless skinless chicken breasts in the bottom of your crockpot.
  2. Sprinkle the taco seasoning evenly over the chicken.
  3. Pour the salsa over the chicken, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  4. Cover the crockpot with its lid and set it on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  5. Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot.
  6. Spoon the shredded chicken into warm tortillas and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

For perfecting the recipe, consider making your own taco seasoning for more flavor control. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of water/salsa.
