Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 cups tortilla chips Choose your favorite brand for the best crunch.
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey (Halal-certified) Feel free to substitute with beans or grilled chicken for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce Any type of lettuce works, but romaine provides a nice crunch.
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes Fresh tomatoes will enhance the flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to use a different cheese if desired.
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup corn (fresh or canned) Fresh corn adds sweetness.
  • ½ cup sour cream Greek yogurt can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup salsa Offer on the side if preferred.
  • 1 unit avocado, diced Adds creaminess to the salad.

Method

Cooking the Beef
  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey, breaking it into smaller pieces using a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat, if needed.
  2. Add your preferred taco seasoning or a pinch of salt and pepper for flavoring. Mix well and let it cook for another minute to absorb the spices.
Building the Salad
  1. On a large serving platter or in individual bowls, layer the tortilla chips evenly.
  2. Sprinkle the cooked meat over the chips. Then, layer on the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, black beans, and corn.
  3. Top your salad with a drizzle of sour cream and salsa. Add diced avocado for extra creaminess.
Serving
  1. Serve the salad right away for the best crunch. Enjoy!

Notes

For best results, consume your salad fresh. If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days, but tortilla chips may lose their crunch. Reheat toppings only to maintain texture.
