Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound squid, cleaned and cut into rings Fresh squid is recommended for best flavor.
  • 1 cup milk For soaking the squid.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Used for coating the squid.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • as needed oil for frying Use a neutral oil with a high smoke point.

Method

Preparation
  1. Soak the cleaned squid rings in milk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and paprika together.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until hot.
  4. Remove the squid rings from the milk, allowing excess milk to drip off. Dredge each ring in the flour mixture until fully coated.
Cooking
  1. Carefully place the coated squid rings into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Fry in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  2. Remove the fried squid from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  3. Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Serve with lemon wedges, garlic dipping sauce, spicy marinara, or alongside a fresh garden salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
