Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in the foamed yeast, olive oil, minced garlic, and chopped rosemary.
- Mix until the dough comes together, then turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- After rising, punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf or small rounds.
- Place the shaped dough on a greased baking sheet, cover with a towel, and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, with an internal temperature of about 190°F (88°C).
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze wrapped securely for up to a month. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes to restore crispiness.
