Ingredients

  • Chicken pieces thighs, wings, or drumsticks
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Start by patting your chicken pieces dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure a crispy crust.
  • Marinate: Soak the chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. This tenderizes the meat and adds moisture.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat the Chicken: Remove chicken from buttermilk and shake off excess liquid. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  • Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about 3 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry: Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Drain and Serve: Remove the chicken and drain on a plate lined with paper towels. Serve hot!
