Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 large large eggs For soft-boiled eggs
  • 1 pound sausage meat Your choice of flavor
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko works best for extra crispiness
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Olive oil spray For crisping

Method

Preparation
  1. Boil the Eggs: Place the 4 large eggs in a pot of boiling water and cook for about 6-7 minutes for soft-boiled eggs. After boiling, quickly transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for a few minutes, then peel them gently.
  2. Prepare the Sausage: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  3. Wrap the Eggs: Take a portion of the sausage mixture and flatten it in your hand. Place a peeled egg in the center, then carefully mold the sausage around the egg, ensuring it is completely covered. Repeat for the remaining eggs.
  4. Coat with Breadcrumbs: Roll each sausage-covered egg in breadcrumbs. For a crunchier texture, dip the egg in beaten egg before rolling in breadcrumbs.
Cooking
  1. Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the Scotch eggs with olive oil to enhance crispiness. Place them in the air fryer basket (make sure they aren’t touching) and cook for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Enjoy: Let them cool for a few minutes, and enjoy your Crispy Air Fryer Scotch Eggs with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

Ensure that your eggs are fully cooled before peeling; this will make them easier to handle. When wrapping the sausage around the eggs, make sure the layer is uniform. Don’t skimp on the oil spray; it helps achieve that desired crunch!
