Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great) Choose firm apples for best results.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Consider using panko for extra crunch.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • as needed cooking spray For greasing the air fryer basket.

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and remove the cores. Slice them into wedges or strips, aiming for about 1/4-inch thickness.
  2. In one bowl, combine the flour with salt, sugar, and cinnamon. In a second bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until smooth. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
Breading
  1. Dip each apple slice into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  2. Dunk it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Ensure each piece is well-covered.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the coated apple slices in a single layer.
  3. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes, turning halfway to ensure even cooking until they are golden brown.
  4. Remove them from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider using panko breadcrumbs. Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket for the best results.
