Ingredients

For the tart
  • 1 can crescent roll dough Use refrigerated dough
  • 4 large eggs Whisked
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice
  • 1 cup cooked halal sausage Or diced chicken if preferred
  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup chopped spinach Optional
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Cooking spray For greasing the baking dish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly spray a rectangular baking dish (9x13) with cooking spray.
  3. Open the tube of crescent rolls and separate the dough. Lay the pieces flat in the baking dish, pressing them together at the seams to form a solid crust.
  4. In a medium bowl, crack the 4 eggs and whisk them. Add the shredded cheese, cooked halal sausage, diced bell peppers, and chopped spinach if using. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the crescent roll dough, spreading it evenly.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is puffed and golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow the tart to cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares.
  3. Serve warm for breakfast or brunch.
