Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the tablespoon of vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this dry combination into the wet ingredients, blending until you have a smooth cookie dough.
- Gently fold in the heavy cream.
- Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to portion the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar on top of each cookie.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an extra caramelized effect, you can use a kitchen torch to lightly char the sugar topping. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can help cookies maintain their shape.
