Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces tilapia fillets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For cooking the fish
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 piece lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream Can substitute with yogurt for a lighter version
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse the tilapia fillets in cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
Cooking
  1. Season the tilapia fillets with salt and pepper, then place them in the skillet.
  2. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and flaky. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the lemon juice and simmer for one more minute.
Making the Sauce
  1. Stir in the heavy cream, dried oregano, and dried basil. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens slightly, around 2-3 minutes.
Combining
  1. Add the tilapia back into the skillet, letting them bask in the creamy sauce.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

If using yogurt instead of heavy cream, it will provide a lighter, tangy flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
