Ingredients

Filling Ingredients
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 pieces green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
Wonton Ingredients
  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers (ensure they are halal)
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
Optional Dipping Sauce
  • Sweet chili sauce for dipping Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until the ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold it in half diagonally to create a triangle shape, pressing the edges to seal.
  3. To add a bit more flair, you can fold the pointed ends towards each other for an adorable shape.
Cooking
  1. In a deep pot or frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Make sure there's enough oil to submerge the wontons halfway.
  2. Carefully place a few wontons in the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Don't overcrowd the pan!
  3. Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Serve hot alongside sweet chili sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

To add variety, try adding minced cooked chicken or vegetables to the cream cheese mixture. Watch the oil temperature to ensure the wontons don't soak too much oil or burn. For a healthier version, consider baking at 375°F (190°C) after brushing with oil.
