Ingredients
  

For the Biscuits
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Crab Filling
  • 1 cup fresh crab meat
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Lemon Butter
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • a pinch of salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and shredded cheddar cheese. Pour in the buttermilk and melted butter, stirring until just combined.
  3. In another bowl, gently mix the fresh crab meat, cream cheese, parsley, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Be careful not to break up the crab too much.
  4. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of biscuit dough onto a lined baking sheet. Press a small amount of crab filling into the center, then top with another tablespoon of biscuit dough to seal in the filling.
Baking
  1. Bake the biscuits in your preheated oven for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Making Lemon Butter
  1. While the biscuits are baking, whisk together the melted butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt.
Serving
  1. Once the biscuits are out of the oven, brush the tops generously with the lemon butter. Enjoy them warm!

Notes

Use fresh crab meat for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the biscuit dough to avoid tough biscuits.
