Crab cakes are the epitome of seafood comfort food, combining the sweet, delicate taste of fresh crab meat with a crispy exterior, creating a symphony of flavors in every bite! Picture this: golden-brown patties that crack open to reveal tender, succulent crab, all accompanied by a creamy dipping sauce that dances on your taste buds. They not only sound divine but are also surprisingly easy to whip up, making them ideal for both weeknight dinners and special gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Crab Meat 1 pound, preferably lump
  • Bread Crumbs 1 cup, panko recommended for extra crunch
  • Mayonnaise 1/2 cup
  • Dijon Mustard 1 tablespoon
  • Worcestershire Sauce 1 teaspoon
  • Egg 1 large, beaten
  • Green Onions 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Parsley 2 tablespoons, chopped fresh
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. Prep the Crab Meat: Start by gently picking through the crab meat to remove any bits of shell. Set aside.
  2. Mix the Base: In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and beaten egg. Mix well to create a paste.
  3. Add Flavors: Stir in chopped green onions, parsley, salt, and pepper. Finally, gently fold in the crab meat. Be careful not to break up the lumps too much!
  4. Form Patties: Shape the mixture into cakes, about 3 inches wide. You can dust them lightly with a bit of extra breadcrumbs if desired.
  5. Heat the Oil: In a skillet over medium heat, add a few tablespoons of oil. Once it's hot, add the crab cakes in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they're golden brown.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce!
