Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 cups almond milk (unsweetened or sweetened) Based on your preference
  • 1-2 tablespoons saffron strands For infusion
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup Optional, for sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder For an added flavor
  • 1 piece star anise Optional, for garnishing
  • as needed as needed Chopped nuts (like pistachios or almonds) For topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Infuse the Saffron: Start by placing 1-2 tablespoons of saffron strands in a bowl with a splash of warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to help the saffron infuse its beautiful color and flavor.
  2. Heat the Almond Milk: In a saucepan, heat the 2 cups of almond milk over medium heat. Stir occasionally to ensure it doesn’t burn.
  3. Add the Saffron: Once the almond milk begins to steam, add the saffron infusion along with the saffron strands. Stir gently until incorporated.
  4. Flavor it Up: Add the honey or maple syrup for sweetness according to your taste. If you love cardamom, sprinkle in 1 teaspoon for a warm, fragrant note. Continue to stir for about 2-3 minutes until all the flavors meld together.
  5. Serve: Remove the tea from heat and pour into mugs. Garnish with chopped nuts and a sprinkle of star anise if desired.
  6. Enjoy!: Sip and savor the cozy warmth of your homemade saffron almond milk tea!

Notes

Consider topping with crushed pistachios or a dash of cinnamon for added flavor and texture. For a variation, swap almond milk with oat or coconut milk.
