Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (or use coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup finely chopped apples (such as Granny Smith or Fuji, peeled)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Stir until blended.
  4. Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Gently fold in the finely chopped apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  2. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the dish for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for a gooey treat.
