Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (drained) Use full-fat for creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic Adjust to taste
  • 3 tablespoons fresh cilantro (chopped) Optional for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or melted butter)
  • Water (as needed for dough consistency) Add gradually

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Mix in the cottage cheese and yogurt until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Gradually add water until you achieve a soft dough.
  4. Dust a clean surface with flour. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it transforms into a smooth ball.
  5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Divide the dough into equal portions (about 6-8) and roll each piece into a flat oval or circle, roughly 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a small bowl, mix minced garlic with olive oil or melted butter. Brush a thin layer of this mixture onto one side of each naan.
  3. Heat a skillet or flat pan over medium-high heat. Place the naan garlic-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form.
  4. Flip it and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. (You can also char it over an open flame for added flavor, if desired!)
  5. Remove the naan from the skillet, brush with more garlic butter, sprinkle with fresh cilantro if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For variations, consider adding fresh herbs or chili flakes for an extra kick. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
