Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water Should be around 110°F (43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Toppings
  • to taste garlic powder
  • to taste Parmesan cheese For topping
  • to taste butter For brushing

Method
 

Preparing the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Make a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil.
  3. Stir the mixture until a soft dough begins to form.
Kneading the Dough
  1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  2. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Rising
  1. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down, and transfer it back to a floured surface.
  2. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the dough into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Place the strips on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  5. Brush the tops with melted butter, and sprinkle garlic powder and Parmesan cheese to your liking.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these delicious breadsticks warm!

Notes

For a healthier twist, consider using whole wheat or gluten-free flour. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
