Method
Preparing the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- Make a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil.
- Stir the mixture until a soft dough begins to form.
Kneading the Dough
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Rising
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Baking
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down, and transfer it back to a floured surface.
- Roll it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the dough into strips, about 1 inch wide.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the strips on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Brush the tops with melted butter, and sprinkle garlic powder and Parmesan cheese to your liking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these delicious breadsticks warm!
