Equipment

  • - Stand mixer (optional)
  • - Large mixing bowl
  • - Rolling pin
  • - Sharp knife or pizza cutter
  • - Baking sheet (9x13-inch)
  • - Pastry brush
  • - Small bowl

Ingredients

  • **For the Dough:**
  • - 1 ½ cups warm water 110°F
  • - 2 ¼ tsp 1 packet active dry yeast
  • - 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • - 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • - 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • - 1 tsp salt
  • **For the Topping:**
  • - 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • - 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • - 1 tsp garlic powder
  • - 1 tsp onion powder
  • - 1 tsp dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • - ½ tsp paprika optional
  • - Salt to taste
  • **For Dipping:**
  • - Marinara sauce garlic butter, or ranch dressing

Instructions

  • **1. Prepare the Dough:**
  • - In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • - Add melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes (or 3-4 minutes in a stand mixer with a dough hook) until smooth and elastic.
  • **2. Let the Dough Rise:**
  • - Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • **3. Shape the Breadsticks:**
  • - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking sheet.
  • - Roll out the dough into a rectangle to fit the baking sheet. Place the dough on the sheet and use a knife or pizza cutter to score it into 12 breadsticks.
  • **4. First Butter Coat:**
  • - Brush the dough generously with melted butter.
  • **5. Bake:**
  • - Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown on top.
  • **6. Season and Serve:**
  • - While the breadsticks are warm, brush them again with melted butter. Mix Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, paprika, and salt in a small bowl. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the breadsticks.
  • - Cut along the scored lines and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
