Preparation
  1. Begin by taking your one cup of unsalted butter out of the refrigerator and allowing it to soften at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. While the butter is softening, finely chop your fresh herbs.
  3. Finely mince the garlic clove.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until fully combined.
  5. Take a small taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt or pepper if needed.
  6. Transfer the mixture onto a piece of parchment paper, roll it into a log shape, and twist the ends to seal.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour for flavors to meld and the consistency to firm up.
Serving
  1. Once chilled and firm, unwrap the butter log and slice it into rounds.
  2. Serve it with your favorite dishes or store it for later use.

Notes

Make this compound butter a day in advance for deeper flavors. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
