Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups powdered sugar Use fresh powdered sugar for best results.
  • 2 large egg whites Fresh egg whites are recommended.
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • to taste Food coloring Choose your favorite colors.
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • as needed Cornstarch For dusting the work surface.

Method

Preparation
  1. Dust your work surface with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth and thick.
  3. Fold in the corn syrup and water, ensuring everything is combined to form a workable dough.
  4. Divide the mixture into separate bowls for each color you wish to create. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until the colors are vibrant.
  5. Using your hands, take small portions of the colored dough and shape them into flower-like designs. Use cookie cutters for uniform shapes or your hands for more artistic approaches.
  6. Place the shaped flowers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them dry for several hours or overnight to harden.
  7. Once fully dried, your Colorful Sugar Flowers are ready to adorn your favorite desserts or enjoy as a sweet treat on their own.

Notes

For an egg-free option, consider using aquafaba (chickpea brine) as a substitute for the egg whites. Allow sugar flowers to dry longer during humid conditions for proper hardening. Use a light touch when shaping to avoid cracks or breaks.
