Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork. Add melted butter and mix well. Stir in granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, and nuts (if using) to prepare the streusel topping.
Baking
- Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle half of the streusel topping over it, layer the remaining batter, and top with the remaining streusel.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
