Ingredients

For the Bread
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas The riper the bananas, the sweeter your bread will be.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter Use unsalted butter for best results.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Feel free to add nutmeg or pumpkin spice for variations.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
For the Streusel Topping
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour Additional flour for streusel.
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Optional, for added texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork. Add melted butter and mix well. Stir in granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, and nuts (if using) to prepare the streusel topping.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle half of the streusel topping over it, layer the remaining batter, and top with the remaining streusel.
  2. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
