Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels Ensure the kernels are fresh.
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil (solid for popping) Use solid coconut oil for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust amount to taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, place the coconut oil over medium heat. Allow it to fully melt.
  2. Add 2-3 popcorn kernels to the pot. When they pop, you know the oil is ready.
  3. Once the test kernels pop, carefully add the rest of the popcorn kernels and cover the pot with a lid.
  4. As the popcorn begins to pop, gently shake the pot back and forth every few seconds to prevent burning.
  5. Listen for the popping sound! When the pops start to slow down (about 2-3 seconds between pops), remove the pot from heat.
  6. Carefully lift the lid and sprinkle in the salt to your taste. Stir or shake to coat the popcorn evenly.
  7. Serve immediately in a large bowl and enjoy!

Notes

Experiment with flavors by adding spices like paprika or nutritional yeast. Store leftover popcorn in an airtight container for up to 2 days to maintain its crunch.
