Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Optional Topping
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your donut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. A few lumps are perfectly fine.
  5. Scoop the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  2. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a couple of minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  3. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze for about a month. Reheat gently in the microwave for about ten seconds.
