Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices thick bread (brioche or challah works best) Choose thick, hearty bread for best results.
  • 2 large eggs Use large eggs for a richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk (or your choice of milk alternative) Any milk alternative can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor to the egg mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) Enhances the warmth of the dish.
  • a pinch salt Balances sweetness.
  • as needed butter or oil for cooking Use for greasing the cooking surface.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, then whisk in the milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a pat of butter or a drizzle of oil.
  3. Take a slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for just a few seconds on each side until it’s fully coated but not too soggy.
Cooking
  1. Place the soaked bread on the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  2. Remove from the heat and serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup or topped with your favorite fruits and whipped cream.

Notes

For perfect French Toast, choose thick, hearty bread and avoid soaking too long to prevent sogginess. Experiment with various spices for added flavor.
