Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter and warm water, stirring until mixed.
  2. Slowly add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead it for about 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 2-4 hours or until it doubles in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, and shape it into a loaf. Place it into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Cover the loaf again and let it rise for another 1-2 hours.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. When the second rise is complete, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter and sprinkle it generously with the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  4. Let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
