Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can substitute with almond milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar For topping.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon For topping.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix! The batter should be thick but not too dense.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the remaining granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle it generously on top of the batter.
Baking
  1. Place the loaf in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For perfect results, avoid overmixing the batter. You can store the bread wrapped in plastic wrap at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for 2-3 months. For reheating, microwave slices for 15-20 seconds.
