  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Use flour for a light texture.
  • 1/2 cup water Hot water helps to form the dough.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Can substitute with coconut oil for dairy-free.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For flavoring the dough.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder Helps the churro bites rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds a nice flavor.
Coating Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon For the cinnamon-sugar coating.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, unsalted butter, and salt over medium heat. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the all-purpose flour, sugar, cinnamon, and baking powder until well combined. Fold in the vanilla extract after forming a cohesive dough.
  4. Allow the dough to cool slightly before transferring it to a piping bag or a ziplock bag with a corner cut off.
Baking
  1. Pipe small bite-sized pieces onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the churro bites are golden brown.
Coating and Serving
  1. Mix 1/4 cup sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  2. Once baked, let the churro bites cool slightly, then toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated. Serve warm.

Notes

These churro bites are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 to 7 minutes.
