Ingredients

For the Banana Bread

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 piece egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
For the Cinnamon Swirl and Glaze
  • 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (for glaze)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze) Adjust as needed for consistency.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir in the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon sugar for the filling.
  5. Pour half of the banana bread batter into a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the cinnamon sugar.
  6. Using a knife, swirl the batter to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the bread is baking, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth for the glaze.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top once cool.
