Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk (around 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
For the Filling
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
For the Icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional for thinning) Add more for drizzly consistency.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Whisk together.
  2. Mix in the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until a dough forms.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 15 minutes until it doubles in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  3. Spread the softened butter over the surface, followed by a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Cut into strips, knot each strip, and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool slightly.
Icing
  1. While the knots cool, whisk together powdered sugar, brewed coffee, and milk until smooth.
  2. Drizzle over the warm knots.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for a week. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven.
