Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Whisk together.
- Mix in the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until a dough forms.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 15 minutes until it doubles in size.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter over the surface, followed by a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Cut into strips, knot each strip, and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool slightly.
Icing
- While the knots cool, whisk together powdered sugar, brewed coffee, and milk until smooth.
- Drizzle over the warm knots.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for a week. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven.
