Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk together.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Don't overmix.
- Knead the dough gently on a lightly floured surface for 1-2 minutes until a smooth ball forms.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into strips (about 1 inch wide) and twist each strip gently.
Baking
- Place the twists on a greased baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. As soon as the twists come out of the oven, coat them in this mixture.
Serving
- Let the twists cool slightly on a wire rack, then serve warm.
Notes
