Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Plus extra for sprinkling
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk Use room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Transfer the batter to your prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. In a small bowl, combine extra sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle it generously over the top of the batter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added flavor, let the bread cool completely before wrapping. Store in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat slices in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or toast for extra crispiness.
