Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
Kneading and Rising
- On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Making the Filling
- In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Set aside.
Assembly
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x24 inches).
- Spread the filling evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly, starting from the long side.
- Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces.
- Place them in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Preparing Icing
- While the rolls bake, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
Serving
- Once the rolls are baked, let them cool for a few minutes, then drizzle the cream cheese icing generously over the top.
Notes
For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh and allow the dough ample time to rise. You can store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for a week.
