Preparation
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and cinnamon; bring to a boil. Slowly stir in flour and baking powder until a dough forms. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe long strips onto parchment paper.
- In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
- Carefully fry the churro strips until golden brown on all sides. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Remove and let them drain on paper towels.
- While still warm, toss the churros in a mix of sugar and cinnamon.
- Once the churros are ready and slightly cooled, gently bend them into a taco shape and fill with your choice of diced fruits. Drizzle with caramel sauce or honey.
- Finish off by sprinkling powdered sugar on top and serve immediately for the best experience!
Notes
For a unique flavor, feel free to replace standard fruits with seasonal ones. These churro tacos are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
