Main Ingredients
  • 1 sleeve Saltine crackers Essential for the base of the dessert
  • 1 cup unsalted butter For the toffee layer
  • 1 cup brown sugar To create the buttery toffee
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips To top the dessert
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts Optional, for added crunch
  • Sea salt Optional, to enhance flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the entire surface.
Making the Toffee
  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, pour the buttery toffee mixture evenly over the Saltine crackers, ensuring to coat them well.
Baking

  2. Remove the sheet from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top. Let them sit for a few minutes until they melt, then spread the melted chocolate with a spatula.
Finishing Touches
  1. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate layer and optionally add a pinch of sea salt.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
