Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and place the Saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire sheet.
Making the Toffee
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Allow it to boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring, then remove from heat.
Baking
- Immediately pour the toffee mixture over the Saltine crackers, spreading it evenly to ensure that all crackers are coated.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a few minutes until melted, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer.
Cooling and Serving
- If desired, sprinkle any additional toppings over the melted chocolate before it sets.
- Allow the entire mixture to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
- Share with friends and family, or keep some for yourself!
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. If you want to extend freshness, refrigerate. Reheat in the oven at a low temperature if necessary.
