  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup colorful sprinkles (for decoration)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla until combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in chocolate chips and sprinkles, if desired.
Baking
  1. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  2. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.

Notes

To elevate the dessert, pair with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
