Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use 2 sticks
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • as needed Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and granulated sugar. Cream together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Gradually mix in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt until well combined. Use a spatula to bring the dough together.
  4. Take small portions of dough (about a tablespoon each) and roll them into balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the cookies are set but still soft.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes before rolling them in powdered sugar.
  3. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For optimal texture, let your butter soften at room temperature for about an hour. Chill the dough if it's too sticky. Avoid overbaking to retain the melt-in-your-mouth texture. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
