  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Sift before combining with wet ingredients.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional, for added richness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat well until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs to the ricotta mixture, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ricotta mixture until everything is combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy with fresh berries or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for added flavor.
