Preparation
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and mini marshmallows. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until both are melted and smooth.
- Remove the bowl from the microwave and add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until the cereal is thoroughly coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly (just so it’s manageable). Using your hands, form small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a lined baking sheet.
- In a separate bowl, melt the chocolate chips using the microwave method, stirring until smooth.
- Once the balls are formed, dip each one into the melted chocolate and place it back on the baking sheet. If desired, sprinkle with toppings before the chocolate sets.
- Allow the chocolate to cool and harden. Once set, enjoy your Chocolate Rice Krispie Balls!
Notes
Mix quickly to shape the balls before the marshmallow mixture cools and hardens. Try different coatings like white chocolate for variations. Lightly grease hands to avoid sticky fingers.
