Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, blending until just combined.
- Take small spoonfuls of peanut butter and drop them onto the cookie dough. Swirl with a knife or toothpick to create a marbled effect.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To ensure perfect cookies, use room temperature ingredients and do not overmix the dough. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can prevent spreading and result in thicker cookies. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
