Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Can be substituted with almond milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Feel free to add more chocolate chips if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and melted butter until well blended.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Do not over-mix; a few lumps are just fine!
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips to the batter.
Cooking
  1. Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Drop tablespoons of batter onto the hot skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface of the pancakes. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Remove from the skillet and serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix your batter and ensure the skillet is hot enough before cooking.
