  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Can be substituted with melted butter.
  • 3 large eggs Two for the cake and one for the cream cheese mixture.
  • 1 cup water For mixing with the cake batter.
Cream Cheese Topping
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened 8 oz package for best results.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional, for added chocolate flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, 2 eggs, and water. Mix until smooth for about 2-3 minutes.
Baking the Cake
  1. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. While the cake is baking, beat the softened cream cheese in another bowl until smooth. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar and add one egg until well incorporated.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, swirling gently with a knife for a marbled effect.
  2. Return the cake to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cream cheese is set and lightly golden.
  3. Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with more chocolate if desired.
