Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, 2 eggs, and water. Mix until smooth for about 2-3 minutes.
Baking the Cake
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, beat the softened cream cheese in another bowl until smooth. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar and add one egg until well incorporated.
Finishing Touches
- Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, swirling gently with a knife for a marbled effect.
- Return the cake to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cream cheese is set and lightly golden.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with more chocolate if desired.
Notes
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze individual portions in an airtight container. Thaw overnight in the fridge and microwave for a few seconds to reheat.
