For the Glaze

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Once combined, pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay!
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (around 350°F or 175°C), carefully drop spoonfuls of the donut batter into the oil. Fry the donuts for about 1-2 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze, whisking until smooth and glossy.
  3. Once the donuts have cooled slightly, dip them in the glaze for a divine finish. Allow the excess to drip off.
Serving
  1. Serve warm and watch them disappear!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For longer storage, freeze them in a single layer and then transfer to a freezer bag.
