  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use unsalted for better flavor control.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust if using salted butter.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and mix well.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, stirring until the dough comes together.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Form the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Use a fork to press them down lightly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature or warm in the oven at 300°F for 5-7 minutes.
