Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sift for a light texture.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast Ensure freshness.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup milk At room temperature.
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted Substitute with coconut oil for a vegan option.
  • 1 large egg
Flavor Addition
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use dark chocolate for a less sweet option.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and egg until combined.
  4. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms. If the dough feels too sticky, add a sprinkle of flour.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out. Knead for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  6. Knead in the chocolate chips evenly into the dough.
Rising and Shaping
  1. Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each piece into a bun and place them in your prepared baking dish.
  3. Cover the shaped buns again with the kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 15-20 minutes until slightly puffed.
Baking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!

Notes

For dairy-free, use almond or oat milk. Ensure your yeast is fresh and do not skip the punch-down step after the first rise.
