Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth, leaving a few lumps for texture if desired.
- Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
- Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until everything is blended.
- In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda and salt with the flour.
- Fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
- Carefully fold in the chocolate chips.
- Transfer the batter into a well-greased or parchment-lined loaf pan (9x5 inches works best).
- Bake for about 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For perfect banana bread, use the ripest bananas possible. Consider substituting chocolate chips with nuts or dried fruits for a unique twist. Store tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat slices in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds.
