  • 3 medium ripe bananas The riper, the better!
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Halal)
Dry Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth, leaving a few lumps for texture if desired.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
  4. Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until everything is blended.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda and salt with the flour.
  6. Fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
  7. Carefully fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Transfer the batter into a well-greased or parchment-lined loaf pan (9x5 inches works best).
  9. Bake for about 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For perfect banana bread, use the ripest bananas possible. Consider substituting chocolate chips with nuts or dried fruits for a unique twist. Store tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat slices in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds.
