Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  4. Add the melted butter and sugar to the mashed bananas, mixing well. Then add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months with parchment between layers. Reheat in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds.
