Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas with melted butter. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Serve with coffee or milk, or enjoy with vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit. Store bread in an airtight container for 4-5 days or freeze wrapped for up to three months.
