Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed Use overripe bananas for better sweetness.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 medium egg, beaten
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • A pinch salt
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional) Add for extra chocolate flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas with melted butter. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Once baked, let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve with coffee or milk, or enjoy with vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit. Store bread in an airtight container for 4-5 days or freeze wrapped for up to three months.
