Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the softened butter and granulated sugar. Beat them together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy—about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add this mixture to your wet ingredients, mixing well without overmixing.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop portioned dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden and the center remains soft.
- After baking, allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy your warm, chewy creations!
Notes
For thicker cookies, consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes before scooping. Experiment with flavor by swapping in different extracts like almond for a twist. Do not over-bake, as cookies will harden while cooling on the baking sheet. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
