A sinfully delicious and incredibly easy dessert, bursting with tart cherries and sweet pineapple, all enveloped in a light cake topping.

Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple (with juice)
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) For added crunch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray or butter.
  3. Spread the crushed pineapple evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Spoon the cherry pie filling on top of the crushed pineapple.
  5. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry layer.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix.
  7. Optional: Sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
  2. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serving
  1. Top with ice cream or whipped cream before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
